Lydia

My name is Lydia Rusnac. I was born and grew up in Vogtland (a region in eastern Germany) in the so called “music corner“. Because of attending a school specializing in the arts and a music school where I took lessons in classical singing and playing the flute, I was already early influenced by musical and artistic matters.
After I had done my A-level I started my course in Inclusive and Special Education at the University of Applied Sciences in Görlitz. This was quite an exciting time with numerous practical experiences because of the very practically oriented university.
Because of my fascination by foreign languages and getting to know other cultures and also cultivating friendships to Romania, I spent one of my practical terms in a sheltered workshop for people with disabilities in Bucharest. During this time the contact to DSBU was made.
After I graduated successfully (with “Diplom”) in summer this year (2010), I decided to move to my husband to Romania and start work at the German Kindergarden Bucharest.
Since several years a saying is accompanying my life: “You do not discover new territories in the world without having the courage to lose sight of the coast.” I also would like that to be an important subject in my work with the children: I would like to accompany them a bit on their journey of life, to arouse the courage to discover their world of living individually by themselves, to support their enthusiasm and curiosity in playing and in our activities, in order to promote the development of their individual personality and uniqueness.
So I joyfully take this challenge in the kindergarden of DSBU to go together with the children on a travel of discovering.
